Big Brothers Big Sisters of Victoria is a non-profit agency providing mentoring programs for children and youth on Southern Vancouver Island. We are currently looking for a highly organized, efficient, caring, and committed individual for the position of Mentoring Coordinator.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will support our Girls Peer Support Programs and one to one mentoring programs within multiple school settings. Tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Liaising with multiple schools coordinating program delivery and student referral
  • Supporting, training and mentoring program facilitators
  • Completing required administration to ensure safety and compliance with national standards
  • Assisting children and families through referral and access to other resources
  • Assisting in volunteer recruitment, screening, interviews, recognition, and retention
  • Supporting program development, promotion and evaluation
  • Managing a client caseload

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Min 2 years post-secondary education in social/human services, education, etc.). Completion of a 4 year post-secondary degree in a related field considered an asset
  • Experience working with children, families and volunteers
  • Experience working in and leading girls programs considered an asset
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills; ability to juggle competing priorities and work efficiently while maintaining a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, time management skills and computer skills
  • Police record check including vulnerable sectors check will be required of successful applicant

 

Terms of Employment:

  • Hours: 35 hours per week with a renewable 10 month contract (September –June)
  • Salary: $19 per hour
  • Contract Date: November 2018 – June 30th, 2019 with the opportunity for contract renewal
