IN-SCHOOL MENTORING PROGRAM
Our In-School Mentoring (ISM) program connects young people with volunteer mentors to spend time with them at the following elementary schools only:
- Braefoot
- Brentwood Bay
- Brooklyn (Comox Valley)
- Campus View
- Craigflower
- George Jay
- Kelset
- Marigold
- Quadra
- Queneesh (Comox Valley)
- Salt Spring (Salt Spring Island)
- Saseenos (Sooke)
- Valley View (Comox Valley)
Elementary school students are mentored by trained volunteers who can help them to navigate challenges, lend them a supportive ear and empower them to realize their full potential.
Activity ideas and supplies are provided. Each mentor and mentee visit together once a week, for one hour during the school day. Volunteers can mentor one or two children depending upon their availability.
MENTOR SCREENING & TRAINING
Our volunteer mentors are adults and teens who want to make a difference for young people in our community.
Mentors complete thorough screening and undergo training with our expert mentoring coordinators focused on building supportive developmental relationships with children and youth.
VOLUNTEER AS AN IN-SCHOOL MENTOR
When we match a young person with a volunteer mentor, we start something incredible – a life-changing relationship where mentors support, challenge and empower our youth to reach their full potential. Contact us or visit our Volunteer Page to learn more about making a BIG difference as a mentor!
ENROLL A YOUNG PERSON IN ISM
In-School Mentoring is available by referral through participating elementary schools only.
Contact us if you have any questions your application or enrolling in your community. Our ISM Coordinators in Victoria, Westshore, Comox and Salt Spring Island are available to support you.
