Building Resilience in Youth

In January, we celebrate National Mentoring Month – a time to uplift mentors and highlight the impact of mentorship. Everything we do is based on the impact of mentors in the lives of young people. Did you know that a supportive mentoring relationship is the most important indicator of success for children who are experiencing adversity?

According to the Harvard Institute for the Developing Child, at least one consistent relationship with a trusted adult is the key to developing resilience in youth. As young people grow up and experience challenges in their lives, resilience is the critical ability to bounce back from adversity. These essential relationships give young people the support, confidence, and tools they need to build resilience and overcome hardships.

The Benefits of Volunteering

Mentoring relationships are essential for the young people they support. However, our volunteer mentors also benefit from these life-changing relationships. Volunteering supports both physical and mental health and can improve your mood, get you out in the community, and provide you with new experiences. It’s a win-win!

Start your mentoring journey today and see what volunteering could bring to your life.
